A young family of adventurers living by the sea

So the lovely people over at Nuby sent me and Max some products to test drive and play with. We're always on the lookout for great products to recommend to friends so jumped at the opportunity.

We've had the items for a few days now and decided to take the bath toys into the bath for a bit of a play. We are going to continue to play with these and report how we are getting on with them. We just wanted to let you know our first impressions.

First up theres the Nuby Squid Squirter. The idea is that you put the squid underwater and pull up the plunger, then push it down to spray water everywhere. As the chamber is quite large it does fill up with a lot of water! It comes out more like a water gun (like a super soaker) than some of the other bath squirter products we have tried before. Theres a warning on the back of the packet that says 'Parents beware this will be aimed in your direction.' Yep I can well and truly say I was soaked head to toe by the end of it! Max was squealing with laughter every time the water hit me or another part of the bathroom. It took a bit of time to get the idea of filling up the squirter. The plunger is quite hard to pull out underwater so I wouldn't recommend it to any child under the age of 18 months at the youngest unless the parents wanted to use it against the child! Having said that it was probably the most fun we had in the bath for a long time. Next time we use it I won't let him spray it everywhere as it took more time to clean up than it did to play! We might also take it to play at the pool or somewhere similar as there will be less cleaning up to do.
Definitely a 5 star rating from Max (and me aswell!)

Next up there is the Splish Splash Stacking Cups. These work in a similar way to your normal stacking cups but they have small holes in the bottom of the cups to create a waterfall effect. As you can see from the photos, Max was loving the water running our going 'oooo water' everything he filled one up. The great thing about these is that it helps with fine motor skills (stacking) each cup is a different colour to teach your child and on the bottom of each cup there is a raised shape (square, circle etc) so you can teach them shapes. They've really thought of everything! I like that these cups seem to feel a bit more robust than the normal stacking cups. They've already survived Max hitting them against the walls and bath with no chips or scratches at all. Max seemed to enjoy these for longer than he did the Squid Squirter and I feel that these are more educational than the other toy too.
Max would probably give these 4 stars as they didn't soak me as well as the other toy did. But I would give them 5, just for the added development benefits.
